Gold Nanomaterial‐Based Optical Modulators for Wideband Pulse Laser Generation

Pulsed lasers have wide applications in several fields, such as basic research, telecommunications, and industrial materials processing. A saturable absorber (SA) is a key component for pulse laser generation. However, the current SAs exhibit certain limitations. Hence, developing new nonlinear optical generation significantly important ultrafast photonics related applications. Metallic nanomaterials attracted considerable attention because of their higher nonlinearity coefficients wideband response, which are induced by surface plasmon resonance (SPR) effect. The SPR effect depends on size morphology materials. Thus, absorption gold must be explored. In this review, properties introduced, including absorption, photoluminescence properties, surface-enhanced Raman scattering Then, synthesis characterization different reviewed. Subsequently, characteristics devices based also introduced. Furthermore, types using nanomaterial-based comparison between other SA presented. Finally, conclusion outlook
